Itchy Brown Girl Seeks Employment (2009, City Works Press) is Ella deCastro Baron’s debut, a memoir in the form of a conceptual curriculum vitae that explores her upbringing as a non-Catholic Filipina American daughter of immigrant parents perilously navigating ‘questionable life choices’ and enduring an ‘inherited sickness.’ DeCastro Baron’s author portrait and all other imagery used in the book’s cover design were taken at the home she shares with her husband and two kids in East San Diego in 2009.
